Ryan Haverty is at the forefront of the new generation of classical guitarists.
His fresh and emotionally-charged performances are drawing rave reviews from critics, fans, and peers across the United States.
His unique presentation of a wide variety of styles showcases his technical mastery, as well as his sincere and commanding stage presence.
Mr. Haverty began teaching himself guitar at age 12 and began to develop a passion for the instrument. He has involved himself in multiple solo and collaborative musical projects, including guitar duos, chamber ensembles, rock groups, jazz combos, and avant-garde collaborations.
He has studied with Turkish-American guitar virtuoso Mesut Ozgen and has been in the master classes of many respected guitarists, such as Benjamin Verdery, Andrew Zohn, Paul O'Dette, Ricardo Gallen, and Robert Strizich.
Mr. Haverty has received numerous awards, scholarships, and honors for his solo playing, chamber collaborations, and teaching. He has a Bachelor of Music degree in classical guitar performance from the University of California at Santa Cruz. He is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree, under the guidance of Jason Vieaux, at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
Ryan is constantly considering and implementing ways to advance the repertoire and traditional performance techniques of the classical guitar. He has transcribed many new and old works for solo guitar, as well as for guitar duo. He is deeply committed to the traditions of the classical guitar, yet strives to breathe fresh air into the art.
